The original 18-hole Dollar Golf Course was designed by
Ben Sayers.
He felt there were enough natural hazards and so did not construct any bunkers.
In 1906 the Ladies Golf Club and the Gents Club came together on Dollar Bank, part of Harviestoun Estate, as Dollar Golf Club, and were there until 2019, when, due to falling membership, the Club closed.
Over the years the Club hosted many Opens and people from around the world enjoyed playing here. Famous golfers who have played the course included
Maud Titterton, the British Ladies Champion of 1908. In 1910 a match took place between four Ryder Cup players, Herd, Ray, Ball & Duncan, who were said to have relished the challenges of Dollar.
In July 2020 Dollar Golf Course was established and has retained nine holes which are open to a new generation of golfers.
Harviestoun Estate and a small group of local volunteers continue to run the Dollar Golf Course, and with the support of local players and visitors we hope to continue the long history of golf in Dollar.
